Armani Does Red! Lip Maestro Liquid Lipstick "400- The Red" by Armani Beauty

 

It seems that the lockdown and lack of social interaction has made me appreciate the holiday season a tad more! And what could be more traditional than a classic red lippie offered by none other than the couture label maestro Giorgio Armani?  In fact, the lipstick itself is called the lip maestro liquid lipstick.

The specific red I am talking about is  simply called 400-The red.  Giorgio Armani does red and like its namesake couture, it does it well! The idea was born when in 2011 for Armani’s haute couture spring show, the designer wanted the look  shiny but matt, something that in essence has two opposing finishes. The undertones are true red, not too orange, and not blue.

So, I may tend to be a bit skeptical about couture labels masquerading as beauty brands, but Armani has been in the beauty business for a while now and has done a great job.  The shade is rich, and the liquid lipstick has a weightless matt texture which is creamy and does not dry out the lips at the same time. But this comes at a price, as for those of you who think they can go straight to meet their friends after an evening of holiday shopping without reapplying, think again! This lipstick is not long wearing at all (despite being marketed as such), but liquid lipsticks have  a tendency to do that. Though I will let that go for the deep effect it gives against my dark hair. What do y’all   think?
